E-Commerce with an emphasis on Social Technologies
I recently did a podcast with Charles Wasilewski of Aartrijk on the topic of Web sites and Google Analytics relative to insurance agencies, but the subject matter really applies to any Web site. Take a listen. Hope it helps. Also find out more about the Aartrijk Brand Camp. I know a few people who have already signed up – should be a GREAT meeting; a Sure Thing!! How do you use Google Analytics? Please comment below.
If you’re on Twitter, did you see my tweet from Wednesday? Got 2 Retweets!! “Hilarious! How an iPhone got this guy out of a no-insurance-card-in-car ticket! Yes, the Web really works! http://bit.ly/JSAoA” Thought I’d mention it, not only from the Twitter perspective, but also from the Web and customer satisfaction angle. No doubt about it, State Farm picked up on it and tweeted it themselves. I bet that guy’s now practically a cult hero within the State Farm marketing department. SF should run a story, “How a dragonboat racer sold 1000 policies for us – with no commissions!” Well, maybe not the commission part… Comments on making insurance Web sites useful to members like this?
I’m speaking at an IIABA conference in Kansas City later this month. I’m leading a session and then facilitating a panel. Should be helpful to the Midwest Independent Agents. Check it out.
One of my favorite print magazines (and Web site) is Insurance & Technology. Always good content in there. Click here for a free subscription courtesy of Mike Wise! Even with just a casual browse, you will pick something up; another Sure Thing!
For PIMA members, there’s a new thread on Healthcare Reform starting in the PIMA Linkedin Group. Check back too next week as activity should really light up in there given the state of the dialog. As I noted before, strongly encourage you to make sure your voice is heard. Whether you are in favor of government run healthcare or not, this bill as it currently sits seems highly likely to put the USA into bancruptsy, especially given that Medicare/Medicaid seems already on track to wipe us out. Get the real deal and write your senator and congressman. (Btw, love the “Ban on texting while driving” article. How are we going to enforce that? And what’s next? How about… Ban on adjusting the radio… Ban on putting on make-up… Ban on talking with a co-passenger… How about this one: Ban on having an animal loose in the car while driving.) Yes, I know texting while driving is bad and I am consciously cutting it out. But do I need the government invading my privacy once again??? What are your comments?
On a personal note, my son Zach graduated from school this morning – the US Army Paratroopers School @ Ft Benning, GA. Can’t wait to see him and hear all the stories! Then off to junior year at Houghton College – soccer, ROTC, lot of stuff. This is my son of whom I am well pleased. And Kelle is doing awesome as well. Can’t wait til she takes the world by storm. Btw, Kelle is Gaelic for ‘warrior woman’.
