OMG! I wish EVERYONE I do business with could have been at this event – yes, it was THAT good. I have a suspicion that, over the next several months, I’ll be referencing items I learned, witnessed, and thought of, during and since.

A few thoughts:

Several great tips on podcast interviews. You’ll be hearing (and hopefully, seeing) some of those in practice in the coming months.

I’ve got to start learning to use Skype.

I’ve got to understand and use Twitter, Facebook, Frapper – URGENT!

Critical to understand the legal side of New Media, content, intellectual property, etc. I have subscribed to Colette Vogele and her legal content to keep up to date. (By the way, if you are not subscribing to RSS feeds, I strongly recommend it. I love my Bloglines Home page. Keeps me current on the content I’m interested in and which I consider to be un-biased, if you know what I mean. Yes I still access Fox News, but only to stay current on events, nothing more. Not sure how to do RSS? Comment on this post and I’ll reply with instructions.)

Imaging Buffet is a great example of a cutting edge Web site. Slide down to the Footer. Love the links to the Most Popular content. Brilliant! They also have a good use of New Media Tools that I’ll be seeking to incorporate into new site designs as appropriate.

MarylandZoo.tv is a perfect example of a perfect mix of professional and unpolished.

You’ve no doubt heard of Search Engine Optimization — SEO. Have you heard of Social Media Optimization? Oh yeah! I think SMO is going to become critical for marketing departments of the future. Remember, you heard it here first!

Technorati, del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Digg — understand these sites.

http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ – Great tool for understanding keywords, search volume, discovering related keywords.

That’s it for now. Whadyathink?

Make plans to attend New Media Expo 2008 for sure. I can almost guarantee you’ll be glad you went…
